Wessex Cancer Trust is looking to expand its cancer care provision into Dorset in the coming months.

At the moment our Dorset Cancer Care provision consists of patient grants provided to individuals to help them with the increased living costs that cancer can leave them. We currently provide Dorset residents with more patient grants than any other region out side of Hampshire.

Wessex Cancer Trust is very fortunate to have some fantastic individual and corporate support in the Dorset area and we are always excited to have new volunteers and business support our work.

We are seeking to start a new Volunteer Fundraising group in Bournemouth in the early part of 2013. We have plans to open a new support centre in the Bournemouth area and would very much value the early ground work that a group in this area could do.

Karen heads up our Dorset Cancer Care fundraising and would love to hear from you. Please contact us if you would like to get involved.

Pictured are Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe from the BBC’s hit show “Strictly Come Dancing”, together with four lady competitors (L – R Angela Fletcher, Emma James, Karen Starbuck and Sharon Canning) as they launch this year’s “Dorset Business Come Dancing” competition at the Piccadilly Hotel in Bournemouth.

On Saturday, 18th October, eight businessmen and women from across the Dorset region will be quickstepping out in style to win the coveted 2012 trophy.  Like the BBC show, none of the competitors has any previous experience of ballroom dancing and will be paired with a professional dancer from one of the local dancing schools.  By the night of the competition, the couples will have had just a month to train together before taking to the floor in front of a live audience – and a panel of judges.
